Council Update: Meetings, Deputy Chief, Oaths
Chief and Council Commence Meetings
Chief Johanna and all of the members of the newly elected Council recently held their first meetings, including an informal sharing circle on August 8, and the first formal business meeting on August 9.
The next Council meeting will be held at the Pic Mobert First Nation Band Office on August 23, 2017 commencing at 7 p.m. Meeting minutes and attendance records will be posted once approved.
Councillor Louis Kwissiwa appointed Deputy Chief
At its regular meeting held on August 9, 2017, Chief Johanna Desmoulin appointed Band Councillor Louis Kwissiwa as Deputy Chief.
Deputy Chief Kwissiwa is currently in his (3rd) term as a Band Councillor, was born and raised in Mobert and is a graduate of Confederation College’s Aboriginal Community Advocacy & Aboriginal and Canadian Relations Programs; he was also actively involved in leading numerous recent governance initiatives including the Chi Naaknigewin and self governance in education through the Anishinabek Education System.
