The elections of a Chief and Council for the Pic Mobert First Nation will be held on July 27, 2017.

Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Pic Mobert First Nation that a poll will be held to elect a Chief and 9 Councillors on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pic Mobert First Nation Community Hall.


All ballots cast at this election will be counted at the Pic Mobert First Nation Community Hall immediately following the close of the poll on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

First Nations Elections Act

As per the community consultations held in 2016, these elections will be held under the First Nations Elections Act.

Band members and potential candidates are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Act and the related regulations available, as there are new procedures, rules and penalties.

Electoral Officer

Gail Brubacher was appointed Electoral Officer in May, 2017. Ms. Brubacher is an experienced Electoral Officer and is certified by Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development Canada as required under the First Nations Elections Act.

Nominations & Candidates

The nomination meeting was held on Thursday June 22, 2017.  Click here to view the list of candidates.

Mail-In Ballots

Any elector may vote by mail-in ballot by submitting a Request for Mail-in Ballot form, which can be obtained from the Electoral Officer, along with a copy of identification, by Friday, July 21, 2017.

Advance polls will be held in Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie:

Thunder Bay:  Thursday, July 20
Holiday Inn Express Lakehead Room, 1041 Carrick Street
9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sault Ste Marie:  July 22, 2017
Holiday Inn Express Empire B Room, 320 Bay Street
9 a.m. to 8 p.m
